Savvy Shopper ;-)

Lately, I've been "totally into" a few things: giraffes, coconut anything, pink (ok, that's just always), yellow and gray, candy apple green, bamboo, kitchen gadgets, silly trinkets, and FREEBIES!! I have a pretty steady flow of freebies coming in the mail, and have a fb photo album dedicated to them :-)

I recently (like a week ago today recently) started working at a new daycare. My "comfort zone" is age 3 and under, preferably in the 1 and under stage. I am currently (and through the month of June) completely out of that zone. I am the lead (and only) teacher in a room FULL (10-11 kids on the average day) of 3-5 year olds. Thank goodness, my previous daycare gave me a pretty good amount of experience working under stress, so the kids I'm working with now don't usually make me want to run away crying...until today. I think I may have yelled 95% of the day. Yesterday, it was slightly understandable because they were coming off of a weekend...today, no excuses. By lunch-time I was pretty wiped (and that's just 2.5 hours into my day!). Typically, food (more specifically: McDonalds) helps brighten my day. Yes, someday I'm going to have to pick a healthier, less fattening day-brightener, but today was not that day. The minute my break started, I called hubby and asked if it was OK with him if I used a little of my birthday money ($25) to go to McDonald's (being sure to explain why). He said it was my money, so if I wanted to that was fine! I'm sure it helps that hubby also works at a daycare (my previous, stress management teaching one)...the man knows what a bad day at work means. I asked for directions to the nearest McDonald's and was on my way! Thirty-five minutes (it should have been WAY less, but I got lost a "kajillion" times) and $8 something later (I know, I know, but it was my birthday money!) I had a little bit of earthly encouragement sitting in a bag on the floor of the car. :-)

I had all intentions of using my birthday money for something useful (new jeans to replace my third pair of "i crawl on the floor at work and it tears up the knees of my pants" jeans, new shoes to replace my current "entire sole is about to fall off" pair, new shirt to replace one of my "wholey shirts", etc).

Hubby went to the gym after work tonight, so I decided to run by Kohls and see if I could find a cute pair of jeans for under $26 while I could still use my "$10 off anything $10 and above, Father's Day" card. I was able to find a cute pair of jeans that were marked down to $14.40 (originally, $48). I paid $4.62 for those jeans, thanks to mark-down price and my "$10 off" card :-D I headed next door to Wal Mart to see if I could find anything for $12 - what was now left of my $25 (after McDonald's and Kohls). At Wal Mart, I found a cute new pair of shoes marked down to $5 (after much searching...can you believe I almost paid $10 something for a different pair 'cause I thought THAT was a steal?!), a new shirt marked down to $3, and a tub of Toasted Almond Fudge ice cream (cause hubby needs some kind of a treat...yes, I'm sure I'll have at least one small bowl)!

I'm so excited! I was able to get new jeans, new shoes, a new shirt, and ice cream for a grand total of $16.30! At Kohls alone, I saved $43.60 on the one pair of jeans!

I can't wait 'till hubby gets home to show him all my finds (and his ice cream)!

My Talented Husband :-)

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned how incredibly talented my husband is, but...he is. To be honest, he's, to some degree, a "jack of all trades". Hubby is a photographer, graphic design artist, fabulous assistant teacher at a daycare (he's great with kids!), certified personal trainer, a bit of a chef, mechanic, car "modder", etc.

He's currently designing his own spoiler for his Kia Spectra5 as well as designing/installing an oil temp. gauge into the driver's side pillar (the bar that often causes blind spots when turning). Anyway, fortunately, he's taken some snap-shots along the way, so I'm able to show the fabulous progress he's made!

So, hubby purchased the gauge, a new pillar, and the pod that holds the gauge. He cut a hole in the pillar for the wires to be fed through, and bolted the pod onto the pillar.

The pod had to be heated up, and cut down a bit so that it would fit properly on the pillar.

Hubby then applied fiberglass. Fiberglass strengthens, bonds, and forms the object.

So far, looks pretty awful, right? Have faith, it gets better!

For the record, fiberglass stinks (like rotting flowers) and is pretty nasty on the hands. Men (and women) if you intend to use it...I'd suggest some decent gloves and outdoor work.

Once the fiberglass was applied, it was sanded down.

After the sanding, body filler was applied. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of this process. Wish I did, 'cause it was actually pretty fun to watch!

After body filler was applied, everything was sanded down again.

Starting to look better, but there's still work to be done.

Primer was applied. In my opinion, it looks fantastic! :-)

Isn't he talented?! I'm excited to see it once it's done being painted and the installation process begins! We'll have to remember to take some snap-shots so you all can see the end result, too!

Not As Strong As Him

Lord, help me to remember I'm weak, but You are strong. I cannot sing apart from You, for Lord, You are my song...Lord, I need You when the sea of life is calm. Oh, Lord, I need You when the wind is blowing strong. Whether trials come or cease, keep me always on my knees. Lord, I need You. Lord, I need You.

Puppy Love

Well, it has been decided that we want a puppy. I'm terrified of dogs, always have been, but we want a puppy and we think that it would be good for me. I'd like to get a baby and then get more used to it as it grows bigger. Tonight we found this gorgeous husky puppy on craigslist - we're hoping to hear back from the seller soon!!

Long Time No...Post(?)

I know I've been horrible and haven't posted anything in FOREVER! :-(

We got married on November 27, 2010, and after that, life has been busy! We went to the Mall of America for our honeymoon and had a fabulous time! Then we went speeding right into Christmas-time. Since then we've been living in a world of snow and ice and a bit of drama (from work). I am loving married life! It's so great to actually be with my best friend all the time! I love it! It's been a lot of fun to go grocery shopping together, have movie nights together, etc. :-)

We recently got our tax returns back, and we were truly blessed! We were able to pay off different things, save some, and get some extras. Jared suggested I get an iPad for my extra (I tend to not buy things for myself and was having a hard time thinking of something that wasn't for the apartment, or us, but just for me). I got one and LOVE it! Then, I learned that iPad2 is coming out on March 11, and it's being sold for the exact same price I bought my iPad for...uh....what?! So.....I ran and found my receipt and....I was still within the 15 days of "being able to return" my electronic at Wal Mart!!! So....yesterday I returned my beautiful iPad. I'm really looking forward to ordering my new one on Friday :-)

I also got glasses finally :-) I've been wearing my contacts like "all the time" for the past 2 years, and it's good to finally give my poor eyes a rest at night.

Well, that about sums it up! If I think of more, I'll post again :-)
